Terms of Service

Last updated: 1 March 2026

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using FloatUp ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service. Continued use of the Service after any changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Description of the Service

FloatUp is a personal finance tool that connects to your bank accounts via Plaid Open Banking (read-only access) to detect subscriptions and recurring payments. We use artificial intelligence, provided by Anthropic, to analyse your transaction data and generate savings insights. FloatUp does not move money, initiate payments, or make changes to your bank accounts. We are not a bank, building society, or payment service provider.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and a resident of the United Kingdom to use FloatUp. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet these requirements.

4. Account registration

To use FloatUp, you must create an account using our authentication provider, Clerk. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your account details up to date. Please notify us immediately if you believe your account has been compromised.

5. Open Banking connection

FloatUp connects to your bank accounts through Plaid, a regulated Open Banking provider. Access is strictly read-only — we can view transaction history and account information, but we cannot move money, set up payments, or modify your accounts in any way. You can revoke FloatUp's access to your bank data at any time, either through your bank's app or through FloatUp's settings. FloatUp is not a bank and does not hold your funds. Open Banking connections are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

6. AI-generated insights

FloatUp uses AI technology from Anthropic to analyse your transactions and generate savings insights. These insights are provided for informational purposes only and do not constitute financial advice. The estimates, suggestions, and projections generated by our AI are based on patterns in your data and general market information. They may not be accurate, complete, or suitable for your individual circumstances. You should always do your own research and, where appropriate, seek independent financial advice before making financial decisions.

7. Subscription plans and billing

FloatUp offers the following plans:

  • Free tier— connect up to 3 bank accounts at no cost.
  • Pro plan— unlimited bank connections and additional features for £4.99 per month or £39.99 per year.

Payments for the Pro plan are processed securely via Stripe. By subscribing to the Pro plan, you authorise us to charge the applicable fee to your chosen payment method on a recurring basis. You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time through your account settings. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to Pro features until the end of your current billing period. Refunds are not provided for partial billing periods.

8. User responsibilities

When using FloatUp, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and truthful information when registering and using the Service.
  • Keep your login credentials secure and not share them with others.
  • Not use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
  • Not attempt to access, tamper with, or use non-public areas of the Service or its systems.
  • Not misrepresent your identity or impersonate another person.

9. Intellectual property

All content, features, functionality, software, designs, text, and graphics on FloatUp are owned by FloatUp or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our prior written consent. Your use of the Service does not grant you any ownership rights in the Service or its content.

10. Limitation of liability

FloatUp is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • We do not guarantee that you will achieve any specific savings or financial outcomes by using the Service.
  • All savings estimates and insights are approximate and should be treated as general guidance, not guarantees.
  • We are not liable for any losses, damages, or costs arising from your reliance on the information provided by the Service.
  • We are not liable for any actions taken by third parties, including banks, payment providers, or service providers.
  • Our total liability to you for any claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid to FloatUp in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English law.

11. Service availability

We aim to keep FloatUp available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control, including outages at third-party providers such as Plaid, Stripe, or your bank. We are not liable for any loss or inconvenience caused by service downtime.

12. Termination

You may delete your FloatUp account at any time through your account settings. Upon deletion, we will remove your stored transaction data and revoke any active Open Banking connections.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, engage in fraudulent or abusive behaviour, or use the Service in a way that could harm FloatUp or other users. Where possible, we will notify you before taking such action.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the Service or to comply with legal requirements. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service. Your continued use of FloatUp after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

15. Contact us
